Content is no longer King ... or was it ever a King? Lots of talk about the myths of SEO that make bad advice sounds good are on different blogs here and here . Although worthy content may do help in providing linkbaits but it was never the holy grail for ranking high on SERPS. Take for example the current Ituloy Angsulong contest, on top 4 on MSN (Dec 2,2006) is an entry by Jun with an empty content on it. The previous isulong seoph contest also had Markku's entry high on the ranks for multiple of weeks with only a single line of content on it. Also using keyword pinoy dream academy on google will display an entry on the top 10 -- http://www.pinoydreamacademy.org/ -- that has not had a single line of content more than two months now, and its ranking 2nd place, not only in google but as well in Yahoo, as of this writing!
While we struggle to determine Search Engine's behavior, which can be very volatile, too much misguided info posted around and its up for you for the picking. Most advises may be true for a certain point but may become obsolete fast as the ever changing algo continues to move. A bad advise today may be a good one tomorrow and vise versa.
