Hi today we will be looking at search engine optimization and how to apply it to the articles you write.
When an author writes an article, he or she desires it to be read by as many readers as possible. The author may want to increase their reputation, sell a product in a certain niche, or attract new customers. Almost always though the author wants a bigger audience to read their articles.
One way to have more readers read an article is by a method called search engine optimization. What is search engine optimization? (it’s also called SEO). Search engine optimization is the method of optimizing your article to appear before the most readers possible in the search engine rankings of a search engine. Search engines are the most popular (by far) method of bringing traffic to your article. Search engines are utilized the most by readers to find things on the internet. Google is a search engine, Yahoo has one, Bing is another. When a reader does a search, a listing is presented with all the websites relevant to that search. The key here is, an author wants his article to appear on that list, and as high as possible in the list (closest to the top).
How do you get close to the top, or the top position on the search page listing? Through search engine optimization.
Here are some ways to use search engine optimization in your article writing:
1. Use keywords in your title of your article. This will greatly help your listing.
2. Use keywords in your article. Usually about 4 keywords will do in a 500 word article. And use lots of different keywords. Make sure that you don’t use too many keywords, though…this is called keyword stuffing and search engines will reduce your articles’ ranking if you “stuff”.
3. Make sure your keywords are relevant to your article subject.
Search engine optimization is key to your article writing success. Search engines are just the main drivers of traffic on the internet currently and there is no substitute.
